I love Macropads
A programmable keypad might sound like overkill. It's not.
A macropad is a small, programmable keypad that sits next to your keyboard. Each button can trigger shortcuts, launch apps, run scripts, or execute multi-step macros. I use the Stream Deck Neo and it's become one of my favorite tools for remote work.
Here's how I use it:
- Start work: One button opens Chrome with my relevant tabs, Slack, Android Studio/VS Code/Xcode, Obsidian, Calendar, and Apple Reminders. Everything I need, ready to go.
- End work: One button closes it all. Clean slate. The work day is done!
- App launcher folder: Quick access to specific apps without typing into Spotlight.
- Meeting controls: Mute, camera toggle, wave link integrations.
The start/end buttons are my favorite. Feels good to quickly get back to a clean desktop at the end of the day.
